Carnitia liegt an der Ostk\u00fcste Istriens, auf 195 m Seeh\u00f6he. Sein Wahrzeichen ist zweifelsohne der Kirchturm von St. Roko, der \u00fcber den Ort ragt. Der Ort wurde von Siedlern aus Dalmatien gegr\u00fcndet, die ihn Heilige Maria von Krnica und sp\u00e4ter Krnica nannten.<br \/>\nF\u00fcr die wilde Landschaft seiner Umgebung sind schroffe Schluchten und Klippen charakteristisch sowie Plateaus, von denen sich ein majest\u00e4tischer Blick auf die Bucht und Inseln von Kvarner bietet. Mit versteckten Buchten, einer bezaubernden Unterwasserwelt, mediterraner Buschlandschaft, dem unverwechselbaren Duft der Macchia und von Kieferw\u00e4ldern und den umliegenden Orten bietet er eine M\u00f6glichkeit zur schnellen Flucht vom st\u00e4dtischen Trubel und f\u00fcr einen l\u00e4ngeren erholsamen Urlaub.<br \/>\nDer lokale Hafen, Krni\u010dki porat, ist Ankerplatz von vielen Fischerboten und Ausgangspunkt ortsans\u00e4ssiger Fischer, die seit jeher von den Gaben des Meeres lebten und ihre Familien davon ern\u00e4hrten oder diese f\u00fcr andere notwendige Dinge umtauschten. F\u00fcr diejenigen mit einem w\u00e4hlerischen Gaumen, die sich die Gaben des Meeres gerne schmecken lassen, bietet Krni\u010dki porat immer frische Scampi und Fische, die bereits seit langer Zeit nach traditionellen Rezepten zubereitet werden. Die R\u00f6mer errichteten in der N\u00e4he einige Bauten, unter anderem eine Festung, deren Hauptaufgabe es war, \u00fcber die Stra\u00dfe zu wachen. Im Jahr 1903 wurde in einer H\u00f6hle unweit von Krnica eine Truhe voll von Gold- und Bronzem\u00fcnzen aus der R\u00f6merzeit entdeckt. Der Name Krnica selbst geht einigen Forschern zufolge auf das keltische Wort KAR zur\u00fcck, das Stein bedeutet. Erstmals wurde er 1243 erw\u00e4hnt.
